Why is speed considered so damned important? Yes, you don't want slow, and it's nice to have as quick a browser as possible. But do microseconds really matter? Further, why aren't other, equally important (IMO) questions: 1. Compatibility -- Opera often fails to meet minimum needs to open so-called IE-only sites. One version opens the site, the next one doesn't, etc. Very irritating. 2. Compatibility with other browsers. How easily can one transfer links, etc., between browsers? 3. How intuitive is the interface? And so on, and so forth.

Somehow, the 80% figure sounds more like it. I appreciate the note.

Exactly, the links, based on browser tests were for general information only, just to supplement the usage statistics links earlier posted. Speed and interface are only the normal user's criterion, not at least for the serious users or designers who want the page displayed correctly than speedily. Since IE6 doesn't display many current pages properly, other browsers seem to be the only choice, at least for the pre-XP users. With each browser displaying a page in its own way, they contribute to a designer's nightmare unitedly! -- / Mohan /
