From: Traci007 on 18 Dec 2009 06:14 Hi, I have a video that was completed and saved but I need to pull out a song and replace it with another because of a copyright issue. I only have the finished wmv file, not the MSWMM file. Since I don't have the MSWMM file to edit, I imported the wmv file into movie maker. What I'm trying to do is to mute a part of the video. I clicked on the tiny + button next to 'Video' that showed the Audio beneath the clips. From there I was able to right-click and mute a clip. However, when I imported a song over it, I couldn't hear it. It's not on mute either. What should I do?

What should I do? ================================ If there are several tunes and you only need to replace one...you need to Split the audio track on each side of the unwanted tune and then you can right click/mute only that file. When you import an additional audio file it must be dragged to the Audio/Music track. The replacement file can be dragged right or left on the Audio/Music track to position it correctly. If the new file is silent...and is not muted...there may be some incompatibility with Movie Maker. Try converting the Audio file to the .wma format and reimport. The following freeware can do the conversion: (FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System Restore point before installing software or updates) Format Factory http://www.pcfreetime.com/ (FWIW...you may want to uncheck all the boxes on the final screen) After downloading and installing Format Factory... open the program and choose an Output Folder... (this is where you will find your files after they are converted) Drag/drop your audio clip onto the main screen... Select 'All to WMA' / OK... Click...Start...on the toolbar... That should do it... -- J. Inzer MS-MVP Digital Media Experience Notice This is not tech support I am a volunteer Solutions that work for me may not work for you Proceed at your own risk
