From: Hannes on 2 Nov 2009 04:06 Hi, After we install and uninstall our (InstallShield) driver package on Windows Vista (32 bit), we see a leftover file: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\Msft_Kernel_<our_driver_name>_01007.Wdf Does anyone know the reason for this file, or what it's for, why it is not removed by uninstalling our driver(s)? Our driver package contains other drivers as well, but only our WDF driver seems to cause this leftover file. Any comments appreciated, / Hannes.
From: Doron Holan [MSFT] on 3 Nov 2009 14:10 this is called a marker file. it is there to indicate that a KMDF driver was once installed. this is used during online crash analysis (OCA) and other system diagnostics. the file is empty and there is nothing to worry about, it is supposed to remain after uninstall d "Hannes" <hannes.news(a)newsgroup.nospam> wrote in message news:158058C5-05D6-4050-B5DA-FC23CACF1CEB(a)microsoft.com... > Hi, > > After we install and uninstall our (InstallShield) driver package on > Windows > Vista (32 bit), we see a leftover file: > C:\Windows\system32\drivers\Msft_Kernel_<our_driver_name>_01007.Wdf > > Does anyone know the reason for this file, or what it's for, why it is not > removed by uninstalling our driver(s)? > > Our driver package contains other drivers as well, but only our WDF driver > seems to cause this leftover file. > > > Any comments appreciated, > > / Hannes.
