From: Jo on 18 Jan 2010 23:39 Hi there. When trying to install .NET Framework 2.0 in order to install SQL Express 2005, the PC freezes. So much so that I can do NOTHING on it and have to reboot manually. I believe that Framework 3.5 has had problems, but I can't find any solution to getting 2.0 installed. Please please please can some one help? --- frmsrcurl: http://msgroups.net/microsoft.public.dotnet.framework/

There are no "problems" with either the 2.0 or the 3.5 installations (actually 3.5 is really just 2.0 with extra libraries added on). You should check your installation log files as well as CPU and memory usage during your install and, of course, make sure your system meets the recommended installation requirements. In addition, if you had been using any beta software, that should be uninstalled completely. -Scott

If de-installation won't work, try the framework removal tool: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx Jesse
From: Alex Clark on 20 Jan 2010 00:36 Hi Jo, What spec is your machine? What version of Windows are you running? Is it fully patched up to the latest service pack etc? Try un-installing all versions of the framework. After that, I recommend running the .NET Framework Cleanup tool and set it to remove all traces of all versions. Then use Windows Update to apply each successive version of the framework and see if that works. From: Jo on 20 Jan 2010 05:56 Hi there guys. Thank you each and every one for your response. The PC Specs are as follows : Celeron (R) (not entirely sure of the processor size) 1Gig RAM. XP Pro 2002 SP 3. The client notified me that he has decided to format as the machine had loads of unused apps. and install Windows 7. Thus, I will be going back shortly to perform all this. Thanks again for your help. Jo --- frmsrcurl: http://msgroups.net/microsoft.public.dotnet.framework/.NET-Framework-freezes-the-PC
