Hi All,

First, thanks you all in advance for your kindest help. I have a problem
like this: I did install window 2003 server with SP1, in the midle of
install process, it ask me to insert the SP1 disc, I did that, but the
problem is I got the error message like this:

"NT5INF.CAT is missing, please insert the disc ....". I did take a look at
the content of the disc with different computer, I do have the file
NT5INF.CA_ NOT NT5INF.CAT. How can I fix this problem?

I do got the same problem when I install window 2000 professional version.
The message "NT5INF.CAT was missing, please insert the disc with this file.

Once again, thanks you all in advance, take care and have a nice day...

Kate

Hi,

Did you burn the CD? Can you try reburning it or get another CD and try
installing from it?

If this doesn't work, when it prompts you for the file, click Browse and
locate the folder i386. See if you can find the file over there. Click OK

If this doesn't work too,

1. Use the EXPAND tool to expand NT5INF.CA_ to NT5INF.CAT.

Note The Nt5inf.ca_ file is located on the Windows 2000 Setup disk in the
i386 folder.

2. Restart in safe mode, and then replace
%SYSTEMROOT%system32CatRoot{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}NT5INF.CAT
and %SYSTEMROOT%system32dllcachent5inf.cat with the expanded file.NOTE: To
view %SYSTEMROOT%system32dllcachent5inf.cat, in Windows Explorer, on the
Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab. Click to
select Show hidden files and folders, and then click to clear Hide
extensions for known file types and Hide protected operating system files.
