From: deftonesman on 14 May 2010 15:34 hey All, Windows 2003, SP2. Windows XP Excel 2003 SP3 So, I'm trying to figure this out or atleast point the finger. I know it's my coleague with the issue but trying to help him where to look. I have a share setup with some folders. Different rights to folders. In all cases, I set each folder not to inherit rights from the share. I then setup different security levels for each folder. One fo the folders is actually a excel spreadsheet for each employee to enter their time. I set the rights in a way so each employee can only see their own. A master spreadsheet sitting in another folder with macros, when ran, will blow away all the rights i put on the users timesheets and even more, put the checkmark back into inherit rights...and the rights it inherits are coming from I don't know where cause they do not match the parent folder!!! So A. Can this be a macro thing? B. Maybe the server needs a restart? C. I have seen it where shadown copie runs and actually makes these changes itself. ANy suggestions?
