From: B__P on 28 Mar 2010 15:33 There was a 2 key short cut I could use to open a new text file but I cannot recall it. I'm using Windows Vista but I believe it also worked under xp. If anyone can help me with this, I'd be most grateful. It might have been 3 keys, but I don't know. I keep thinking CTRL-N but that doens't work. It DID NOT use the mouse - 100% sure of that. I didn't use it in IE but when using Total Commander, a replacement Windows Explorere. However, I do not believe the shortcut was from Total Commander. Please help me if you can. CTRL+N does open a new window in Notepad. Thanks Bonnie

XP sez you can assign a key combo to open dos/.exe apps. When notepad opens, it is editing a new untitiled text file. > CTRL+N does open a new window in Notepad. That must be a vista thing. -- Mike Easter
From: John Doe on 28 Mar 2010 15:59 I say "start scribble". The default is "start Notepad" or "start Wordpad".
From: Brett Miller on 28 Mar 2010 16:17 I think what you want is: SHIFT + F4 And it is unique to Total Commander. Try using GOOGLE next time and doing a search on your own instead of relying on other people to do it for you. Just right-click on Notepad in your start menu, go to Properties and there will be a place to enter a hotkey combo. Use whatever keys you want. |
