From: John on 20 Apr 2010 09:14 Anyone know how Acronis True Image works? I imaged my system partition and because of the size (just over 5GB .tib file) I told it to split the image into two files so that they could be burned onto DVD. Acronis did this and verified the backup. I've now had need to use that backup so I booted using the Acronis boot disk, told it to restore the image and left it running while I went off to do something else. When I went back later I expected to see a message asking me to insert disc 2 of 2 but instead it said that the backup had been restored successfully. I took the disc out, rebooted and my machine is now exactly as it was 6 months ago - but it only used backup disc 1 of 2. Disc 1 has (approx) 4,100,000MB and disc 2 has 975,000MB on it - so how and why did Acronis not ask for disc 2??? Very weird!!

Very weird!! Just checked and those figures should be: Disc 1 has: 357,402,681KB and Disc 2 has: 957,730KB - and that's definitely KB :o)

Very weird!! Not a hardware issue, the topic of this newsgroup. This is a software issue on the behavior of a program. For a group more focused on that particular software, try asking in the Acronis forums. http://forum.acronis.com/

I didn't know the Acronis forums existed (I tend to use USENET as opposed to web-based forums) so thanks for enlightening me.

There are (were) a sufficient number of users of ATI in this froup, so your question is not entirely out of line, especially considering the dwindling bandwidth. I don't think many have a problem with your query. Jon |
