From: ebray on 10 Jan 2010 21:15 I am wondering if someone can help me to learn about flash videos. Is there a program I can get that will help me use them for personal projects like video montages.. I probably need to update my pc, and I will eventurally, but right now, I'd like to know more about them.. I have windows xp service pack 3 with explorer 8. I have nero 7 ultra and I use realplayer sp. Would a newer version of nero help? Any advice would be appreciated. Realplayer download manager downloads them for me , but won't allow me to use them for videos. If I can wait just a little while before replacing my whole pc, that is what I would like to do, but in the mean time, can someone help me out here. Much thanks!! -- ebray
From: Tim Meddick on 10 Jan 2010 22:03 I'm not an expert by a long, long way... However, I'll tell what I know.... "Flash Movies" (extensions; .flv .swf & .exe files) are not like other movie format files. They are viewed uniquely through the Macromedia Flash Player (now owned by Adobe) which is usually a browser add-on but can be a stand-alone "projector" that is a [.exe] program that is capable of playing them. This "projector" is capable of cloning and appending itself to another flash file to create a new [.exe] "projector". The form of the media is also unique, as it supports script functions - like being able to point and click at special pre-defined areas within flash movies, as links to applications, websites (URLs) and other scripted functions. Flash "movies" can also be entire games, due to the "programmable" nature of it's scripting language. Flash "movies" can be very different in their appearance and use, from advertisements with links that animate only a few frames, to a complete two-hour movie. From: Anteaus on 15 Jan 2010 14:05 Flash videos are very similar to H263, and the audio stream is in fact mp3, at a diabolically-low bitrate. http://free-codecs.com has a number of utilities to manipulate them. AVIDemux for example. "ebray" wrote: > > I am wondering if someone can help me to learn about flash videos. Not necessarily mp3 encoding - flash video also supports the "Nellymoser Asao", "Speex" and AAC compression plus the uncompressed ADPCM formats. == Cheers, Tim Meddick, Peckham, London. :-) "Anteaus" <Anteaus(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:361C916C-B74F-4760-A79B-F46188FD753E(a)microsoft.com... > Flash videos are very similar to H263, and the audio stream is in fact mp3, > at a diabolically-low bitrate. > > http://free-codecs.com has a number of utilities to manipulate them. > > AVIDemux for example. > > "ebray" wrote: > >> >> I am wondering if someone can help me to learn about flash videos.
