Use the "Migration Assistant"

alternatively, just boot the P.B. in Target Disk Mode and drag and
drop to transfer.

This is quick as you'd be using Firewire

A client of mine got a 5250DN and it wasn't recognised by 10.6 the day
of release, but there was a driver update about two weeks later which
added support for it.
