I just didn't want to see a sudden "newsgroup does not exist' message when updating posts. That happened with the DNS group, but then again, I may have missed the notification that was getting shut down the beginning of June. Ace
From: Cliff Galiher - MVP on 22 Jun 2010 19:16 I'm not sure an official announcement will get made in this case. As kj said, nothing is definite, but I'm planning on this newsgroup leaving the MS servers in early July. -- Cliff Galiher Microsoft has opened the Small Business Server forum on Technet! It has been 'requested' Steve. Personaly I haven't seen any other formal announcments of individual groups going away. The unpleasent 'disappearance' has been my experience so far. "Wish *they* wouldn't do it that way" is my only comment. > >> As >> kj said, nothing is definite, but I'm planning on this newsgroup >> leaving the MS servers in early July. > > I've stopped posting through MSNews already... -- /kj
From: Ace Fekay [MVP - Directory Services, MCT] on 9 Jul 2010 01:29 Sorry for responding to this so late, but I agree, it would be nice to provide forewarning. I've also stopped posting in the MSNewsgroups for the most part and concentrating on the Forums. You never know when any specific newsgroup will close and may be while in the middle of trying to help someone.
