dude,
some facts
1. you Do need telstra.extranet, as it gives a public IP address. ring
125111 and ask for this APN to be added.
2. if the modem keeps changing IP all the time, this means the modem
keeps creating a new data link...
In other words the previous data session is closing down for some reason.
you may need to move the modem location for a better signal and/or use an
external antenna and/or get another modem..
On the whole if the modem is online 24/7 I would expect the IP to change
maybe once or twice a day with a good signal environment...

neither did I.... but since I work with the 3G network my comments still
stand.... call records support my assertions, IP address should be stable
and you can get telstra extranet, you just have to ask for it... extranet
is at least compatible with dynDNS. If he really needs a static IP he's
gunna have to cough up.
