I'd check these first

a) Does the DVD drive read any DVDs whilst booted? Could be the DVD
laser has failed
b) That you are trying to boot from a PPC DVD & not an Intel only DVD
(any iMac/MacBook etc media will be intel only)
c) Does it read this DVD? Just make sure the DVD isn't scratched.

Info I've got says this 'should' work OK at boot.
