From: Theo Markettos on 11 May 2010 15:19 I have a Nokia 2600 (the original, not the 'we decided to recycle the number' version). It's been working fine for years, but now all of a sudden it has decided to show all the texts in my inbox as +447.... rather than the name in the addressbook. I can't seem to find any way to switch it back. Some of the addressbook entries are in +447... format and some in 07.... but neither works. I've been switching SIMs a bit, and at one point did some copying of addressbook entries from SIM to phone and deleting the entries on the phone. But with the original SIM that I've been using for years it doesn't show the names. I've fiddled with all the settings I can find, and duplicated all the entries on both SIM and phone, to no avail. The battery has been pulled out numerous times so it has been rebooted. Anyone any ideas where I might look to fix this? It's getting a bit annoying trying to recognise all my contacts by number. Thanks Theo

What will stop it showing names is if you have the same name and number in the phone memory and on the SIM - it finds the same number twice and doesn't know which to use (even though they are actually the same) so it uses neither. -- Woody harrogate three at ntlworld dot com

Two sets of last six digits will confuse it. In this event the phone cannot make a choice and displays the sender ID - this is usually in international format for a text. Get your contacts onto the phone, then clear the SIM card. -- Regards Jon

Annoyingly, the phone doesn't provide any way to delete contacts from just the phone or just the SIM card. So I swapped in a blank SIM card and cleared the phone. Names work again :) Theo
