From: Gene on 3 Mar 2010 08:21 My Dell Dimentions 2400, XP, SP3 is able to read CD and DVD-R disks but is not able to read DVD+R disks. Is their a solution for this problem other than buying a new disk drive. Am new to the DVD field and my knowledge base is not too great. -- Gene B

If you are writing your own disks just buy DVD-R. -- dadiOH ____________________________ dadiOH's dandies v3.06... ....a help file of info about MP3s, recording from LP/cassette and tips & tricks on this and that. From: Jim on 3 Mar 2010 09:59 Yes, there are DVD drives which can read/write to DVD-R but cannot read/write to DVD+R. And some Dell machines have such drives (my Dimension 4600 for ex.). It may be that Dell or the maker of the device has a patch for this problem. Your best approach would be to use only DVD-R disks. At first "glance" it seems that your drive is an older model that can only use DVD+ medias and not the DVD- medias. There is no "software" patch nor a firmware update to allow the DVD- medias. |
