From: Nikolaus Kern on 1 Apr 2010 14:24 Hi all, I am looking forward to buy a notebook to work with VO and Vulcan out of the current PC. Are there experiences on your side ? Recommendations? At this moment I am thinking about a regular notebook with Win7 with an i5 or i7 CPU and 4 upto 8 GB RAM. Regular disk and grafic board should do the trick. What do you think about it? Feedback welcome. Thanks Niko
From: Ginny Caughey on 1 Apr 2010 14:43 Make sure the graphics is at least DX 1.1 if you think you might want to develop for Windows Phone 7. I'd recommend a solid state disk too for speed. -- Ginny Caughey www.wasteworks.com "Nikolaus Kern" <parzival1969(a)gmx.at> wrote in message news:70e23$4bb4e4e4$506d237b$24435(a)news.chello.at... > Hi all, > > I am looking forward to buy a notebook to work with VO and Vulcan out of > the current PC. > > Are there experiences on your side ? From: Geoff Schaller on 1 Apr 2010 19:10 I recommend Alienware - m17X Awesome dude! My laptop has a quad core extreme overclocked to 3Ghz, 8GB of DD3 RAM at 1.666Ghz and dual 500GB SSD drives in RAID 0. The graphics is an onboard dual 1Gb NVidia card that goes back to a low power mode when on battery. It is a gamer's machine but then those specs are exactly what developers want.
