Hi All

Would someone be so kind to clarify the password changing issues for OWA2007
for me please?

OWA 2007 on backend Exchange 2007 (separate servers).
OWA running on W2K3 SP2 R2 IIS6 and using Forms based security.

We would like to enable expired and change password at next logon feature
through OWA, AND allow extended ASCII (as we've already told the business
that symbols are an allowed option). Can you tell that we've recently
updated our password complexity rules!

This is an extremely useful blog:
http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2008/12/09/450238.aspx

My questions are therefore:

1. Does IISADMPWD support extended ASCII?

2. If we disable change password in OWA as recommended here 'Enable and
hide the Change Password button in Outlook Web Access'
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=297121

how do clients actually achieve password changes?

Docs say:

However, the Change Password URL that OWA exposes on the Options page is
generated on the back-end server.

So we disable/hide the change password button, but how do they now change
their password? Are they presented with a link instead?

3. Docs reference a table pointing Exchange 2003 and a file Aexp2b.htr, but
there's no reference to Exchange 2007. Any ideas what it is?

Many thanks for any pointers and input.

Cheers
Lea

Install SP3, it comes with a password tool. No fiddling around with IISADMPWD, just set a registry key. See

Here's the direct link to the MS blub:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607232%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx

Interesting to note that it mentions IIS 7, so of course my first question
is can it be utilised on IIS 6 (W2K3 SP2 R2)?

Also, no mention of extended ASCII.

Any thoughts?

Cheers
Lea

Hi Michel

Many thanks for the link to SP3, sounds ideal but haven't read the details
yet - I'm hoping it's an integrated solution with OWA.

And I assume this is the reason that I have spotted any posts recently in
this group regarding passwords issues!?

Many thanks
Lea
