From: Mark A. Sam on 6 Nov 2009 10:23 My client's database is suddenly issuing this message and users need to close and open the db. The Access database is on one server and the backend (SQL Server) on another. I run across this on a personal db with link tables to a remote SQL Server, but can't think why it is happening on my client's system all of a sudden. The Frontend has been acting quirky recently so I and the system sluggish, so I suggested they reboot all of their servers as well as their switches and routers, but I can't get an answer whether it has all been done. I'd just like some insight on this and possible remedies. Thank you and God Bless, Mark A. Sam
From: Gina Whipp on 6 Nov 2009 21:26 Mark, First and foremost, do you have a back-up? Say yes (if not go make one). Now, the first thing I would try is Compact & Repair. If no improvement, import everything into a new front end and see if that improves the performance. If still no improvement, please define *quirky*... -- Gina Whipp "I feel I have been denied critical, need to know, information!" - Tremors II http://www.regina-whipp.com/index_files/TipList.htm "Mark A. From: Mark A. Sam on 6 Nov 2009 21:41 Gina, You are misunderstanding the problem It isn't the Access DB. It has something to do with SQL Server. Someone a connection is dropping. Yes I have tons of backups. From: Gina Whipp on 6 Nov 2009 22:09 Mark, You are correct, I did misunderstand. As for remedies, perhaps posting the SQL Server newsgroup would yield better answers? Posting your question to Access table design is apt to get more suggestions for the Access side then the SQL Server side. -- Gina Whipp "I feel I have been denied critical, need to know, information!" - Tremors II http://www.regina-whipp.com/index_files/TipList.htm "Mark A. From: Mark A. Sam on 6 Nov 2009 22:29 Gina, Are you kidding. The Access guys have the answers. It's tough (not impossible) to get one from any of the other groups. ;) God Bless, Mark "Gina Whipp" <NotInterested(a)InViruses.com> wrote in message news:eOJr2e1XKHA.4360(a)TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Mark, > > You are correct, I did misunderstand.
