From: Archimedes Plutonium on 27 Apr 2010 13:27 Ode to Eyjafjallajokull I am not that good at poetry, not that I couldn't be But rather that I had no time for it, you see There was dust and ash in the air from Eyjafjallajokull So the airplanes in Europe were grounded in their stall There was mercury poison and benzene in the air From the oil and coal refineries and burning everywhere The world's worst air we ever breathed is present now a days And worst yet it threatens Global Climate temperature to raise There was a oil rig explosion and spill off the USA coast Threatening the world's ocean waters and all its life Enough of that. The message is coming through. We spend such enormous time, money and energy in harnessing the world's dirtiest most poisonous energy form of fossil fuels Whereas the world's most abundant and clean and unlimited energy of the interior of Earth-- geothermals is left untouched and annoys us with grounded airplanes. It is a shame that the word "lament" is not used as much as it is these days. For I lament the fact that I lived in a period of history where catching a clean breathe of air without loaded with poison such as mercury, benzene, lead, was hard to come by. I lament not having lived in a time when the air was pure and clean and the oxygen content was at a upper limit for fresh air. The road humanity is going down, and downwards, not only jeopardizes the health of humans, medically, but jeopardizes the ecosystems of much of the world and when you jeopardize the ecosystems, such as extinction of the bees, could cascade into our extinction. It is a shame that the word "lament" is not used more often. For I remember the 1960s when I took deep breathes of fresh air, which is almost impossible these days for the mercury poison of China's coal plants come flying around to the USA, and our dirty air goes flying around to China. I can picture a better future. A future where coal, oil and gas are rare commodities used only on rare occasions. A future where almost everything is tied to an electric grid, powered chiefly by Volcanoes. We can have Volcano electricity for as long as there is an Earth with its interior. So think, about this month of April, 2010. Where we have the Iceland Volcano Eyjafjallajokull erupting, when instead we could have built Electric Generator Platforms on the Iceland Volcanoes and transmitted the electricity to power all of Europe. Looking on my globe, the Faroe Islands, the Shetland Islands and probably a whole slew of islands between Britian and Iceland would have served as a transmission line route to the UK. And from the UK onto Europe. Iceland alone can power all the energy needs of Europe, where not a drop of oil nor a lump of coal is ever needed anymore. Where Earth can start to regain its pristine air. And the double benefit is that as you tapp the Volcanoes of their heat energy, you also start to lessen their chances of exploding and erupting. So we get two benefits accrued. So instead of building and engineering more ocean oil rig platforms, why not engineer the world's first Volcano Electric Power Generator? What will it look like? How will it react to a threatening eruption? The thought occurred to me of World War Two with the Germans fighting the Russians. And their tank engineering. The Germans had these heavy immense tanks whereas the Russians built these wooden light weight tanks that would not get bogged down in mud. If my memory is correct, the T34? The tanks of WW2 were a engineering problem, easily solved. The Volcano Generator is another engineering problem. So, if humanity can build these monsters that drill into oceans to extract dirty poisonous oil, surely, humanity can build a Volcano Electric Power Generators and to be able to remove them if threatened by the Volcano. So humanity has a problem. We are too dirty with oil, coal, and gas. We need to change and find a more cleaner energy. We need to make Earth clean once again. And the answer is staring at us, right now in April of 2010 with Iceland Volcanoes and polluting oil rigs on the Gulf of Mexico.
