It will be slower than hardware rendering. If it stops your crashing and burning then you could have something wrong with mesa/opengl and or libdrm and the kernel you are using. What are the versions you are using? Are you using an ATI card? Which xorg and driver driver

Up till recently the HD3200 was not supported by the X.org drivers, at least not accelerated. However, it appears that the versions of X.org and mesa in slackware current support them. Infact it more than appears as I'm running slackware current now. I think I'll see how this goes as I believe that KDE 4.3.x is supposedly a bit more stable than 4.2.x. Interestingly, all the autoconfiguring goodness has happened with this install. The Xorg proprietary drivers were a pain, but this just worked. Pete -- http://www.petezilla.co.uk |
