Open Watcom v1.9 RC5 - 82044 KB
Open Watcom is an effort to take the commercial Sybase Watcom
compilers, and turn them into an Open Source Project. When Sybase
realised that the Watcom C/C++ and Fortran compilers were no longer
commercially viable, they searched around to find a solution for their
existing customers. SciTech Software, a long time user of Watcom
compiler products contacted Sybase about turning the compilers into an
Open Source project, and hence the Open Watcom Project was born.
In a single package, Open Watcom C/C++ and FORTRAN provides a
comprehensive development environment with the tools, SDK's, and
libraries you need to create powerful 16- and 32- bit applications for
popular PC platforms. Combining an integrated development environment
(IDE) and a comprehensive set of tools with state-of-the-art compiler
technology, Open Watcom C/C++ and FORTRAN delivers productivity and
performance.
Open Watcom C/C++ and FORTRAN supports a wide range of host and target
platforms including Windows 95/98/Me, Windows NT/2000/XP, OS/2,
extended DOS and Novell Netware. This impressive platform support is
amplified by the powerful cross-platform capabilities of the IDE and
tools, which enable building applications for a wide range of target
environments from any of the host systems. For example, from Windows
XP you can build and debug Windows 98, 32-bit DOS and 32-bit OS/2
applications, in addition to Windows XP applications. This extensive
cross-platform support helps you to exploit the capabilities of your
host platform.
