I have never heard OpenDNS is used for hiding IP. IP hiding (e.g. by anonymizing proxies) has nothing to do with DNS resolving. In fact, you can use both. -- Poutnik The best depends on how the best is defined.

You seem to be under the illusion that getting me killfiled by the numpties who don't know how to filter x-privat will bother me. I guess you have to believe that. What with all the time you are putting in and all. btw Pooh is a she, and putting waking hours and cat in the same sentence shows just how little you know about cats. -- zakAT(a)pooh.the.cat - www.zakATsKopterChat.com

Hide your IP address from who? Hide your IP address why? Your original question premise is ambiguous. Presently you are reading and posting to a usenet group via GG googlegroups. That is a very bad way to do both because -1- it is a terrible interface, no threading, no filtering -2- many people are going to filter out your posts and never see them because many GG posts are spam or trolls -3- some people don't like the fact that GG exposes your IP address and the email address of your posting account Therefore, if you only want/need to hide your connectivity IP address and not expose the email address of a google account in your newsgroup posts, you only need to use a newsreader and a news server which doesn't expose your IP and which permits you to munge your email address. If you think you want to visit websites without giving the webserver your true connectivity IP address, I would wonder why. If you are simply a privacy buff based on philosophical grounds, you haven't shown any sign of it. Sometimes people are looking for one kind of thing or one kind of privacy and they actually need something else -- such as not openDNS to hide your IP which is exposed on GG. -- Mike Easter
