Why oh why must I have to do this every so often with Office 2007 to get it
to open?

What's the cause of the problem?

What does ResetNavPane do?

/resetnavpane

Clears and regenerates the Navigation Pane for the current profile.
Removes all Shortcuts and Favorite Folders. Has the same effect as deleting
profilename.xml in your user directory.

What add-ins do you have? are you using any sync software?
