I just downloaded virtual pc today(Microsoft > > Virtual PC 6.0.156.0)- Hide quoted text - > > - Show quoted text - Bill, before I start installing the additional software, I'd really like to see if I can get this going without having to do that. It's been a few years since I last used Virtual PC and at that time, it literally just ran out of the box, no issues whatsoever. Colin, regarding your questions, here are the answers. The host pc has the intel(R) Pro 100/1000 PL NIC. The host is connected via lan cable to a router which in turn is connected to the net. DHCP is enabled on the router. Wireless has been disabled on the host for now. I have not made any changes to any settings on the Virtual PC Console.

Does your host machine work OK if you clear the checkbox for Virtual Machine Network Services in the properties of the NIC in the host OS. This will show you if that is your problem. If that is your problem, the only way to fix it is to get an udpated driver for the NIC or leave it unchecked and use some other method to network your vm.

I then checked the host XP machine and can confirm that I still had network access.

I'm completely at a loss as to why networking didn't work with Virtual PC. I did download VMWare this weekend and it worked out of the box. |
