Win7 does not. It depends what you also want to run on your Mac at the same time, and which host operating system you are running. I found that with my "normal" set of frequently used Mac applications open, I wasn't able to comfortably run Windows XP in VMware Fusion on Leopard, with only 2 GB of RAM in the computer, of which 512 MB was allocated to the XP virtual machine. The Mac hit the swap files heavily while the virtual machine was open. It was much better after I upgraded the computer to 4 GB. Snow Leopard will probably be worse than Leopard, because it uses more memory to start with, hence even more reason to go for 4 GB. The alternative is to severely limit the amount of memory allocated to XP in the virtual machine (e.g. 256 MB or even 128 MB). The question then is how little memory you can allocate to XP and still have it perform well enough for the applications you are using in Windows. Another option is to quit most Mac applications while running the VM, which somewhat defeats the purpose of using a VM instead of Boot Camp. -- David Empson dempson(a)actrix.gen.nz

It works here on a Mac with 2GB RAM. I've got 1.83GHz Intel Mini running Snow Leopard and I run Parallels with Win XP on (or should that be "in"?) it. > > > and once it is installed can I also use BootCamp if I desire? > > yes -- Sara Wishing the weather would cheer up
