OK, I've tried Time and Chaos, it works OK, but there are some
translating difficulties, and it has crashed twice this afternoon,
once just because I chose the wrong wallpaper. It deleted the tasks I
had written when it crashed.

I've also spent 2 hours with Epim and I still have not managed
to get a single task to work. Would you mind writing a "dummies guide
to making one single entry". It will probably take you three minutes.

Name of message = Pay phone bill
Message - Phone bill on the 15th
Date and duration- the 15th of every month for the next 8
years. Any time at all, as long as it comes up when I switch on PC.
Have to be reminded two days before, as computer is not turned
on every day, and sometimes only at night. Preferably with a bell
sound once a day.

Sounds so simple, but I can't do it. Either I get thousands of
entries , or none at all. And sometimes I press OK and I delete other
tasks. Something wrong with the buttons, or the translation or both.
Or maybe it's just me ?

Thanks very much for your time. Now after I've done that (it
works btw), if I click on the task, it asks me if I want to edit the
reminder or the whole series.
So I say "the whole series"
And up pops the windows you showed in your first picture.
Note that the reminder(picture number two) has lost the custom
message , is no longer marked and defaults to one minute.
I thought it had forgotten the reminder, but putting clock
forwards, I still get the reminder, but can no longer edit it. Must be
a bug. I thought something was deleting it, but it must still be in
the database somewhere.
I will look for a previous version, and see if it is a bug.

I agree. Uk's Kalander works great, is small and doesn't eat resources.
Then use a simple database or spreadsheet for contacts.

Yes, once it has reminded you it is not possible to remind
again without editing.
BTW, Essential PIM portable can be had by copying the download
url from the homepage, and changing the 3 for a 2
It is half the size, and has everything I need.
http://www.astonsoft.com/downloads/essentialpim/essentialpimport2.zip
:)
You get version 2.81

There is a PDF for download on the site

Which covers the free version

Tried Kalender too. It defaulted to Portuguese. It is a very
easy organizer, but I might stick to Epim as it has a contact manager
adapted to Brazilian post codes.
