From: OJ on 30 Mar 2010 09:06 If I port my O2 number to my 3 PAYG phone will my 3 mobile then appear to be on O2? Will this mean that other 3 subscribers will be charged for calling it (rather than having a free 3 to 3 call)? Cheers OJ

All networks can identify their own "on-net" numbers - even ported ones! The only case that a ported number becomes relevant is, AFAIK, when calling it from a BT landline (when it would continue to be charged at O2 rate)

Thank you both. That's very good to know. As an aside, I initially emailed 3 Customer Service this question. Their automated confirmation said I could expect a reply within 5 to 10 DAYS. Awful service! However, I actually received a very comprehensive reply within about 5 hours. Nowhere near as quickly as you folk, but a lot better than I was expecting. Thanks again OJ
