Yes, but you have to bear in mind that the IMAP client's going to be
somewhat confused when the POP client deletes all the mail behind its
back.

CTM's advice sounds a bit iffy to me. Presumably they're not going to
add IMAP to PowerMail so this is pretty much the only thing they can
say.

PowerMail does have IMAP support.

It's nowhere near as good as its POP3 support though, and not good
enough for my purposes.

At the moment I am in the annoying situation of having to use Mail for
my work email, and I haven't used such a lousy email client for about 12
years.

Oh dear.

What's really bad about it?

I'm still using Eudora with POP3, and it's quite superb, solid as a
rock, and easy to use (the way Anne and I use it) with two networked
Macs.

But there's a general agreement that it's not got a very good IMAP
implementation, I failed to get it to use POP3 with gmail on dialup-
when we were moving house- and some time or other, although it works
well with 10.5 (from experience) and 10.6 (from what I read) it's bound
to break with new Mac OSs. So I was thinking in terms of Mail. Not a
good idea then?
