IIRC "PHP" was nominated as a "programming language". Last I heard the
Pricelessware List is a list of programs.

Good catch, Susan. I checked the link provided and could find no
software to download, only an introductory tutorial, an online manual,
and links to example archives and other resources.

If there's something like a PHP editor or PHP compiler, that would
qualify, but a "language" itself or even runtime libraries alnne
wouldn't be appropriate for inclusion in the PL2009 ballot.

We have about 10 days of nominations left. If someone can provide a
link to qualifying software and at least one other ACF participant
makes a second, it will be on the ballot. If that doesn't happen,
then Susan is correct and "PHP" can't be listed on the ballot.

For now, I'll leave PHP as "nominated but needing a second" to allow
interested parties to find such a link or point out where the original
link leads to a qualifying freeware "program".

=========================

This brings me to another point. In the next couple of days, besides
the full nominations list, I will be also be posting the nominees in a
different format and posting links. It would be helpful if some
readers took the time to follow some of the links and report any
problems noted. It's easier to handle at this stage than it might be
a little later down the road. TIA

You didn't look very hard

http://www.php.net/downloads.php

Explain why AutoIt makes the grade and not PHP? Pretty please.

For PHP, here is the homepage:

http://www.php.net/

Source code and Windows binaries can be downloaded from here:

http://www.php.net/downloads.php

Whether PHP is a program or not is for others to decide. I think of it
as a scripting language mainly for use on web sites but that does'nt
mean it is'nt a program. To run it, it needs to be compiled into an
executable, etc.

From the above web site:

"What is PHP?

PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is
especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML."

Sorry about that. It'll be corrected in the next update.
