First - more information would be necessary in order to troubleshoot. Operating System for a start. Service Pack level might be good too. Specific hardware involved and the driver and where you obtained it. Second - you would probably first be better off going to the hardware manufacturer of the device... Their web page, their support contact information, FAQs, downloads, etc. Last - was there a specific reason you posted this in a newsgroup related to the "Windows Update" function?
