Wow, just wow. Seems like somebody would just add a virtual printer
to VICE and allow printing directly to Windows. Someone around here
should know enough about GEOS printing to create a VICE print driver
for GEOS.

I can print directly from VICE / GEOS.. with a caveat.. the driver
only works with LPT ports. I have a USB-connected printer, and it
installs virtual USB001 port - VICE ignores it. So instead, I print
to a file, and under GEOS, just select the graphics option. It
generates a bmp file that I can then send to the printer. The other
problem is that VICE doesnt seen to always close the file, so it will
remain locked and the file appears empty until you actually close
VICE. You may also need to search for where the file is created or
specify an exact path. These are just my experiences, mileage may
vary.

Sure..

Vice Peripheral Settings - Printer 4
[x] Use IEC Device (checked)
Printer emulation = File System
Printer Driver = NL10
Output = Graphics
Output to file # = 1
Output file #1 file name = viceprnt.bmp

in GEOS, Im using the MPS803 printer

Print your document. When done locate the viceprnt.bmp file - it may
NOT be where youd expect it. For instance, I save a snapshot of GEOS
so I can get into it quick. Printing places the bmp file in the
directory where i loaded the snapshot. Its like it saves it to
whatever location you were at last.

Then (ive found) you have to close VICE or print a blank document
(each doc is a different bmp). You should then be able to open your
document in an image viewer or send to printer.

There are other settings that will instead print asterisks as
commodore "bitmap" etc. But for GEOS this works for me.
