The trick doesn't work anymore under 10.04. I get:
Failed to start the Desktop: Failure loading desktop class
Any other Ideas?
Best regards,
Simon

@Simon:
I got this to work on Ubuntu 10.04 by downloading the latest version of the Java JDK from SUN, then setting the MATLAB_JAVA environment variable to point to that directory.

I have installed Java SDK from Sun. How to find the installation path in Ubuntu so that I can point to the MATLAB_JAVA variable in /bin/matlab file? Thanks.
