From: Boopster on 13 Apr 2010 18:43 I took the disk out before the first reboot. It didn't work. Still took me back to the starting point. :( Anybody have any other suggestions? Thinking about throwing the comp in the gully. Save the changes and exit the BIOS. When the machine comes to the desktop, place the XP CD in the drive and restart the machine. When the machine restarts, you will be prompted "Press any key to boot from CD". If you don't see this prompt, you are not booting from the CD. Press a key and the install routine will begin. When you get to the point that the machine reboots the first time, don't press a key when prompted or the install routine starts over. Leave the disk in the drive and the install will continue. > > "Michael" wrote: > > > "Boopster" <Boopster(a)msn.com> wrote in message > > news:0E4EACBB-9E45-4E81-AA79-669C872D856B(a)microsoft.com... > > > I previously had both windows xp and windos 2000 on one comp. From: John on 13 Apr 2010 19:34 When installing XP Home, did you delete all partitions? Create a new partition and format it? We can't see what you see so describe what you mean by "starting point". LOL Nope the starting point is booting from the install CD if you took it out it could hardly boot from it sheesh
From: Daave on 13 Apr 2010 20:09 Comments are inline because post is unclear. Boopster wrote: > I previously had both windows xp and windos 2000 on one comp. Sounds like a multi-boot. What was your partition scheme? How many hard drives are in this PC? > I have tried reformatting and just getting xp on it. Reformatting *what*? The whole hard drive (assuming there is only one hard drive)? The partition that had XP on it? > I have a disk, *Please* describe this disk in detail.
