From: neo4897 on 28 Mar 2005 10:50 Hi all, I am having some problems configuring a Sunfire V440 connected to 3 T3+ arrays via a Fiber switch. The SF V440 is running Solaris9 09/04. Each T3+ array has 9x36GB drives configured as RAID 5 + hot spare. vol1 is the sliced into 3 partitions. The T3+ array that I am working on , has one of the partitions (60GB ) being accessed by E5500. I had created a 134GB slice to be accessed by the V440. Due to some issues, the earlier administrator had not enabled LUN masking, all slices have rw perm to any machine that is hooked to the switch (no zoning). I can see the V440 HBA on the switch, when I use the show topology command. I have installed 2 Sun StorEdge 2G FC HBAs. Intially I had a problem with the default QLC drivers. I then found that the cards used the QLA2310F chipset, so had to download the QLA2300 drivers from the Qlogic website. sequeira(a)ginger # cat driver_aliases | grep ql qla2300 "pci1077,2300" <--- Added this line , for the HBA to be detected qla2300 "pci1077,9" qla2300 "pci1077,100" qla2300 "pci1077,101" qla2300 "pci1077,102" qla2300 "pci1077,103" qla2300 "pci1077,104" qla2300 "pci1077,105" qla2300 "pci1077,109" qla2300 "pci1077,116" qla2300 "pci1077,115" O/P of prtconf -vpPD : <snip> Node 0xf00d27ec assigned-addresses: 81000810.00000000.00000900.00000000.00000100.82000814.00000000.00100000.00000000.00002000.82000830.00000000.00120000.00000000.00020000 port-wwn: 210000e0.8b19d564 node-wwn: 200000e0.8b19d564 reg: 00000800.00000000.00000000.00000000.00000000.01000810.00000000.00000000.00000000.00000100.02000814.00000000.00000000.00000000.00001000 compatible: 'pci1077,2300.1077.106.1' + 'pci1077,2300.1077.106' + 'pci1077,106' + 'pci1077,2300.1' + 'pci1077,2300' + 'pciclass,0c0400' + 'pciclass,0c04' manufacturer: 'QLGC' #size-cells: 00000000 #address-cells: 00000002 device_type: 'scsi-fcp' name: 'SUNW,qlc' version: 'ISP2300 Host Adapter Driver: 1.14.09 03/08/04' fcode-rom-offset: 00000000 66mhz-capable: fast-back-to-back: devsel-speed: 00000001 class-code: 000c0400 interrupts: 00000001 latency-timer: 00000040 cache-line-size: 00000010 max-latency: 00000000 min-grant: 00000040 subsystem-id: 00000106 subsystem-vendor-id: 00001077 revision-id: 00000001 device-id: 00002300 vendor-id: 00001077 Node 0xf00dcb84 #size-cells: 00000000 #address-cells: 00000004 reg: 00000000.00000000 device_type: 'fp' name: 'fp' Node 0xf00dd280 device_type: 'block' compatible: 'ssd' name: 'disk' <snip> bootup messages: QLogic Fibre Channel Driver v4.15.02 Instance: 0 hba0: ISP2300 Host Adapter Driver: 1.14.09 03/08/04 hba0: Firmware v3.3.1 (ipx) QLogic Fibre Channel Driver v4.15.02 Instance: 1 hba1: ISP2300 Host Adapter Driver: 1.14.09 03/08/04 hba1: Firmware v3.3.1 (ipx) {0} ok select /pci(a)1d,700000/SUNW,qlc@1/ {0} ok show-children Fibre Channel link down 0} ok select /pci(a)1c,600000/SUNW,qlc@1 {0} ok show-children Fibre Channel link down {0} ok show-disks a) /pci(a)1f,700000/scsi@2,1/disk b) /pci(a)1f,700000/scsi@2/disk c) /pci(a)1e,600000/ide@d/cdrom d) /pci(a)1e,600000/ide@d/disk e) /pci(a)1d,700000/SUNW,qlc@1/fp@0,0/disk f) /pci(a)1c,600000/SUNW,qlc@1/fp@0,0/disk q) NO SELECTION Enter Selection, q to quit: q Running the format command, I can see the slices on the T3. No wrong!!! :) You should install the Sun SAN 4.4.4 packages available from www.sun.com/downloads. Dont forget to apply the 8 or 9 different patches aswell. If you want multi pathing failover configure MPxIO. The SAN packages contains the current qlc driver that you need. /wfr Fredrik -- Fredrik Lundholm dol @ ce.chalmers.se
From: neo4897 on 29 Mar 2005 09:31 Fredrik, I did install the Sun SAN 4.4.4 packages. But no use, because format cmd didn't show the T3 drives . Thanks, Vinay
