Hello everyone,

Everest 5.3 shows temperature of the cores usually between 60-70
Celsius degrees. Motherboard - around 50-60 C degrees, while HDD less
then 40 C degrees. Temperature sensor is Maxim MAX1617A. Aren't those
temperatures too high? What can I do to lower them? I use this laptop
only for Office programs and Internet and so far had no problems with
it.

Kind regards,

Mark

Hi Mark! If you are running Vista or Windows 7, that sounds about right.
As my machines CPU gets much hotter running Vista/Windows 7 than it does
with Windows XP. About 10C cooler actually running under Windows XP.
Say are you using a docking station?

Hi Bill,

I use Win XP and just some Office applications and FireFox. No docking
station at all. Laptop is kept away from any heaters etc.

Oh? What does the CPU usage look like? The Task Manager is good enough
to check. Most of the time it should be 5% or less. If it is running
much higher, it sounds like something is running in the background that
you may not want. Task Manager will tell you that too for most
processes.

They're normal temps for an Intel CPU. Don't worry, if the temp gets too
high the CPU will protect itself by throttling back.

However those temps are well within the normal operating range for a laptop.

If you're really concerned you might try running Notebook Hardware Control.
(NHC.) I use it with all my laptops.

Have fun!
