I believe they're calling the first product release version 1.0.

F# will be part of the freely available Visual Studio Express as well as the
commercial Visual Studio Team Edition (and others). Visual Studio Express
apparently has 10,000,000 users (!).

Ok, perhaps I'll take another look someday.

Personally, I don't see how giving a turd away for free
is the way to market a professional product, but hey,
I'm not Bill Gates, am I?
