This record is getting very scratched. -"plenty of people" equated to ~35 people in 2009, most of whom were not regular posters to ACF and only appear to add their favorites to PL. Why use a Usenet newsgroup to do that? >If that happens, it might help anyone who cares about the PL... It's not who may "care" about the PL, it's about doing it in the right place. ie: <ALT.COMP.PRICELESSWARE> OR a forum attached to the PWH website. Did you learn nothing??? >to block posts from the remailers, which are being abused to keep the >noise level so high here. Why don't you go the whole hog and apply for ACF to be a moderated newsgroup under the control of Pricelessware (un)elected officials?? Or you could produce a list of "Pricelessware approved newsservers". Posts from any other servers will be ignored. Ron May could be disinterred to stomp ACF in his jackboots! That IS what you'd like to do. Right? BTW: here's a few facts from the last "Pricelessware List 2009". You may learn something from reading them: 1, ~20 programs that appeared on the final PL were NOT nominated by anyone. Some were nominated but then withdrawn, but Ron May included them anyway. Go figure. 2, A whole bunch of world class freeware programs were never nominated and didn't appear on the PL (some have a user base of 1 million plus). Yet Pricelessware continues to describe its PL as "Best of The Best". How so? 3, Other programs nominated were overtaken by better programs a long time ago and cannot now be described as "best of the best". 4, ~10 of the nominees were sockpuppets of Franklin/Stubbings. Many handles were abusive variations of other posters on the PWH Hate List. Ron May claimed he would EXclude all sockpuppets but ignored his own rule when the sockpuppets turned out to be PWH supporters. 5, Most other contributors are not regular posters to ACF and only appear to vote. Several that come to mind chosen randomely: iNcReDuLoUs, "Jack D Russell Sr" and "REM". 6, The person who hosts the downloadable CD.ISOs of the PL has never been able to provide material evidence that the authors have approved them for mass distribution for FREE or FEE. That makes his actions unlawful. (that's YOU btw). Just thought you'd like to know all that :-) Twist it and play games with the English language as much as you like. ROTFL. -rotfl
