VMWare makes (next to) nothing from sales of VMWare Workstation. Their major revenue stream is from ESX Server. Their decision to bundle almost all of Workstation's functionality into the free Player product is, I think, a very shrewd marketing ploy. I'm sure they'll discontinue Workstation after the next version - no-one who uses Player needs Workstation and, regrettably, there really now is no need to use Virtual PC for anything, as VMWare Player does everything so much better... This is not uncommon in the IT software industry... Do you know anyone who still uses Lotus 1-2-3...? -- Mark Rae ASP.NET MVP http://www.markrae.net

Actually (at least on Workstation 6) the requirements for x64 guest are -- Revision D or later of AMD Athlon64, Opteron, Turion64, and Sempron -- Intel Pentium 4 and Core2 processors with EM64T and Intel Virtualization Technology" I have Athlon64 on Socket 939 which does not have hardware virtualization, but I can use x64 guest (Win7) on x86 host (XP). -- David Wilkinson Visual C++ MVP
