Hi,

I use a windows 2003 standard edition server with terminal server. When I
connect to the server the used USB printer (HP 1018) shows itsself on the
terninal server. When I try to print, the job goes from the TS to my local
machine (XP sp3) and stays in the print queue. Same with a HP P2035 printer
also USB.
As far as I know I tried all the options mentioned in this group, editing
the registry, use last version of RDP client and so on. But still no luck.
Anyone here who can tell me what to try next?

Thanks in advance.

Martijn.

Buy other printers :-)

Seriously, the HP 1018 is not supported at all on a Terminal
Server, as documented here:

HP Printers Supported in Citrix XenApp Server Environments
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01464949/c
01464949.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

The HP 2035 is supported, but *only* when using the HP Universal
Printer Driver.

Thanks Vera for your quick response. I'll try the universal driver and
recommend my manager buying other printers and before buying check the link
you provided.

Best regards.

Hi Martijn,

The 1018 is a host-based printer, and as such is not
appropriate for use under 2003 TS, *unless* you use
a third-party TS universal printer driver solution. Note
I am *not* referring to the HP Universal printer driver.

Host-based printers use much more CPU and bandwidth
and this is not good in a multi-user environment.
