From: Simon on 14 Jan 2010 03:34 Hi, I'e just inherited a server and rww is missing as an option when running the wizard. I'e checked in IIS and the site is also missing from there. Is there a way to repair this ? Thanks Simon
From: Russ SBITS.Biz [SBS-MVP] on 14 Jan 2010 04:46 Assuming you mean SBS2003 Default website is missing? EW Anytime I see a SBS server that doesn't have everything installed I worry. (Well not much of a worry more like a "oh @#$@#$ again") You can reinstall or Install things in Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and Click on Small Business Server 2003 (Change/Remove) button and reinstall what you need. However Please PLEASE make sure you have a full backup with system state. (SBS Backup works) After you re install things you may want to check where users are and what groups they are in. (See if the previous person put people in the right OU etc.) Defiantly document everything you do to fix things. From: Merv Porter [SBS-MVP] on 14 Jan 2010 07:39 Please run a scan with the SBS 2003 BPA and correct any problems it finds: Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 Best Practices Analyzer http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=3874527A-DE19-49BB-800F-352F3B6F2922&displaylang=en .... from a previous post about reinstalling RWW... --------------------------------------------- Reinstall RWW: ======== A. Open Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs. B. Click Change/Remove for Windows Small Business Server 2003 in Add or Remove Programs: C. Click "Windows Small Business Server 2003" and click on "Change/Remove". D. Follow the setup prompts until you reach the "Component Selection" dialog screen. E. Set the "Server Tools" to "Reinstall", and set all its subcomponents to F. Complete the setup wizard. You'll be prompted for CD3, point it to the extracted SP1 cd3 folder. G. You may also want to reinstall SBS SP1. Note: If you have installed the SBS 2003 SP1, you will receive the following message after you insert SBS Disc 3: service packs. When the prompt appears, insert a disc for Windows Small Business Server 2003 with Service Pack 1." Since Disc 3 for SBS SP1 doesn't include the RWW part, the installation cannot proceed. We'll then use the steps below to work around this problem: First download SBS 2003 SP1 to local disk. 1. Start a cmd prompt and change directory to the SP1 download folder (or the SBS03_SP1 folder on PKG_CD2). 2. Type "SBS2003-KB885918-SP1-X86-ENU.EXE /x" (with no quotation marks) and press Enter. 3. Specifying a path for the extracted files (such as C:\SBSSP1) 4. Run the SBS Integrated setup, and when the setup program prompts for the CD3, point it to the folder created above. Thanks Russ and Merv, Russ, yes it's 2003 not 8. Same here this server just worries me about what other gotchas will turn up. The server only had backups until last week when I configured them. The bpa comes out clean apart from a few winges about some network settings which does surprise me. Simon Russ SBITS.Biz [SBS-MVP] wrote: > Assuming you mean SBS2003 > > Default website is missing?
