There are really only two viable alternatives now that OmniPage seems to
be dead:

ReadIris and Acrobat.

ReadIris can be had for under $100. Acrobat is considerably more
expensive. Acrobat is cheaper than OmniPage was, though.

I got a version of ABBYY FineReader (ABBYY FineReader 5 Sprint Plus)
free--included in the price, that is--with an inexpensive Epson
all-in-one printer.
