....or go to Slackbuilds.org, which provides automated build scripts
that compile to recommended slack stds. These also have the added
benefit of creating a reliable conforming slack pkg, in case you want
to install same pkg on other boxes.

not completely wrong, for a while they had a lot of great stuff that was
hard to find elsewhere, now slacky's where i go for most of my pkg's.
linuxpackages is still good for pre-12.1 slack, but i was never
impressed with their search, and lately it seems hard to find updates
for my older slack version.
