I have spent several hours and Googled myself to death trying to
figure out how to record website audio. I've been using Sox and
ffmpeg but so far have got nowhere.

I have a list of audio devices but none seems to work.

arecord -L

Default Audio Device
front:CARD=ICH5,DEV=0
Intel ICH5, Intel ICH5

Does anyone have some hints ?

How about the old-fashioned way -- patch the line out jack of the
machine with the web browser to the line in jack of a machine running
recording software, such as Audacity?

HTH,

David

I use streamripper, ie. avoid the use of the sound card altogether:

streamripper <url of mp3 stream> -d ~/some/path -D %D%A%T -l 3600

I was considering that..until someone else came up with
Streamripper.

Thanks

Well..it works but the site must be using IceCast or ShoutCast
servers to stream the music.
Trying to solve that, I came up with another
method which will save ANY website audio. I used Audacity, with
the ALSA default selected. Then select Mix0 on the input side, and
start recording. You'll have to adjust levels of course, if they are too
high lower the pcm volume or raise it if they are too low.

Streamripper of course works much better on music sites using the
Icecast or Shoutcast systems as it will split up the songs.
