Prev: What agent executes sp_adjustpublisheridentityrange?
Next: Transactional replication fails with connection refused error
From: RichardD on 12 Sep 2008 11:55 We have had a problem for the past 2 years with replication agents failing with the following error. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OUR ERROR: The Merge Agent failed after detecting that retention-based metadata cleanup has deleted metadata at the Publisher for changes not yet sent to the Subscriber. You must reinitialize the subscription (without upload). (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147199402) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It appears there might be a fix but the error message shown in Article ID 953624 is not quite the same. (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953624/en-us) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ARTICLE ERROR: The Merge Agent failed after detecting that retention - based metadata cleanup has deleted metadata at the Subscriber for change not yet send to the Publisher. You must reinitialize the subscription (without upload). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Subscriber and Publisher are reversed. Does anybody know if this will fix our issue or is there another fix available. Thanks in advance! Richard

This is the same class of error. This bug has lingered through a few bug fixes and you might see if again after the latest one.
