From: PASGEN on 23 Sep 2005 13:34 Connecting to either clients or servers from the Internet using RWW either as a user or administrator returns the following error: VBScript: Remote Desktop Disconnected The Client could not connect to the remote computer. Remote connections might not be enabled........However connections from within the network or from the server work fine. OWA works fine for everyone. Port 4125 is open and created packet filter as indicated in a MS document. Any other advice or help is appreciated.
From: "Jenny wu [MSFT]" on 26 Sep 2005 00:44 Hi, Thanks for posting here! I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to answer your systems and applications questions. Our goal is to provide 24 hour response to all questions. Your understanding is greatly appreciated! Regarding to your post, I understand that you got error of " VBScript: Remote Desktop Disconnected??. ", when RDP to the SBS 2003 network computers from internet. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me know. Have you installed router outside the SBS 2003 network? If yes, please double check to make sure the incoming TCP port 4125 is opened on your router or hardware firewall. And also I suggest you view the following KB article carefully to check if your scenario resolution is correct: 828053 ISA Server prevents connection to a remote desktop when you connect http://support.microsoft.com/?id=828053 If it does not work, based on my experience this issue can occur if you are using a Windows XP SP2 computer to connect from. Windows XP SP2 has a pop-up stopper which will block the Web RDP session. In Internet Explorer on the workstation you are connecting from, go to Tools, Internet Options, then click on the Privacy tab, remove the check for Block pop-ups. Close and reopen IE and check if you can connect now. If you have third party pop-up stopper software installed, please also disable it. If the problem persists, I would suggest you to disable the firewall and third-party antivirus system and then, use the following steps to reset IE settings on the workstation and try again. 1. Open Internet Explorer. Click Tools -> Internet Options 2. In the General tab, please click the Settings button 3. Please click the View Files button and then, delete all files in this fold and close it. 4. Please click the View Objects button and then, delete all files in this fold and close it. 5. Click OK 6. Please select Security tab in the Internet Options dialog box. Click the Default button and click Apply 7. Please select Programs tab in the Internet Options dialog box. Click the Reset Web Settings button and click Yes. 8. Please select Advanced tab in the Internet Options dialog box. Click the Restore Defaults button and click the Apply button. 9. Please uncheck the "Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)" check box under the Browsing item in the Advanced tab. 10. Restart your computer as required. Try to test, how about the result? If the issue persists, please try to add the internal IP address to HOSTS file in the server box (C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\ETC\HOSTS), such as: 127.0.0.1 localhost XX.XX.XX.XX(IP address) servername Try to test again, how about the result? If the issue persists, please help me collect some information to isolate the issue: 1. Please try to setup RDP connection from internet using https://IP(public IP address)/remote, how about the result? 2. Please test the issue using another computer from another internet location, how about the result? 3. Please try to run command "telnet IP:4125" (no quota marks) in command prompt and paste the result in the newsgroup. 4. Please kindly help me collect these information and ISAinfo. And send to v-yanniw(a)microsoft.com Please follow this steps to gather ISA Web Proxy and Firewall service logs when reproducing the problem: Enable the full Web Proxy/firewall logging option: a. Open ISA management console. b. Expand the server node and highlight ''Monitoring''. c. In the right pane, switch to the ''Logging'' tab, make sure the ''Task Pane'' is showed there. d. In the ''Task Pane'', click ''Configure Web Proxy Logging'' under ''Logging Tasks'', and then switch the ''log storage format'' from ''MSDE database'' (default) to ''File''. e. Switch to the ''Fields'' tab, and then click ''Select All''. f. Click OK, and then click ''Apply'' to save changes and update the configuration. g. Click ''Configure Firewall Logging''. Do step d~f to enable the full logging options for firewall logging. Prepare to take the trace: a. Temporarily stop the Firewall service to clear the current existing W3C logs: Monitoring->Services tab, and then right click ''Microsoft Firewall'' to choose ''Stop''. b. Go to the log saving directory and clean any existing .W3C logs. By default, the logs will be saved to ''C:\Program Files\Microsoft ISA Server\ISALogs''. (Some MDF may not be able to deleted, that''s normal.) c. Go back to the ISA management console, and then Start the stopped ''Microsoft Firewall'' service. Reproduce the problem: a. Go to the external client computer. Go to access the RWW web site and connect to some computer in your SBS network. b. Go back to the ISA server. Stop the ''Microsoft Firewall'' service. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the ISA log file folder. Collect the recent w3c files. Save them to a zip package as ''isalogs.zip''. Start the ''Microsoft Firewall'' Service. c. Send the zip packages to me.
