I have Vista client and TSGateway/Terminalserver withe RemoteApp
published ie. explorer
I have tried to configure not to show local drives and to show them.
When I try to map to \\tsclient\c$ I get an error saying
The mapped network drive could not be created because the following
error has occured: Attempt to access invalid address

I am not sure if I understand your question completely but this article
might help:

"Folder Redirection Does Not Succeed When You Specify Mapped Network Drive
or Environment Variable"

it's just \\tsclient\c, without the us-currency symbol. c$ and friends are
hidden (non enumerated) smb/cifs exports...
