From: Thorsten Duhn on 8 Jun 2006 09:50 Hello, I'm looking for an advanced DJ mp3 player. I've already seen some, but have not found the best one. Nearest is "Traktor Beatport Player" (for which you need to register on http://www.beatport.com/ ), but I'm missing prelisten. My needs: * crossfade between tracks, automatic and by hand * manage music in one playlist * browsable media library (like MediaMonkey for example) * easily searchable * prelisten (through second sound card) * easy to use (for party usage) Regards, Thorsten -- connect thorsten.duhn(a)editorial.de load http://www.editorial.de load http://www.freewareguide.de system failure:> abort, retry, fail?_

I decided to give up searching for a all-in-one program and do this using the combination of MediaMonkey and "TRAKTOR DJ Player" (which is the predecessor of Beatport Player mentioned above, needs less desktop space and has a more configurable auto-fader). This way prelisten only works for track choice in MediaMonkey, not for mixing itself, but for party DJing this may be enough. Drag & drop from MediaMonkey to TRAKTOR playlist works well. http://www.mediamonkey.com/ (may be called Nagware because of not removable menu entries) http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=traktorplayer_us (for download see bottom of page, email registration required) Requires at least 1024x768 desktop size for both side by side. Ok... I'll reply then :) Check out otsdj.com. I use there full blown commercial "OtsDJ" program, but they also have cd- scratch (which only works with CD audio), and Ots Turntables. Last I checked their both cripple-ware to a degree, but you won't find any better... freeware or not! I'm quite impressed with their NO-latency (yes NO-latency) audio pipeline. It also still boggles me how you can play two songs from the same cd... at the same time, and "scracth" them.. again with NO-LATENCY! I'm a fan :) Regards Stuzz

I already know Turntables and it's a free and cool toy, I agree. But it's far away from my written needs, so no help. > Last I checked their both cripple-ware to a degree, but you > won't find any better... freeware or not! I'll have to try, the media library part on screenshots does not look that detailed like I wish, but one thing is relevant in this NG, always to state very clear, what is free and what is not, as this NG is only for freeware. Mention payware, when there really is no other solution and state clear.
