I went to Sharepoint Admin, create portal site, and selected restore. Fill in the correct database names, and it starts going, put at 1%, it fails. The log shows this: 09/11/05 16:28:35:421 UNK 00000000 00000F3C Portal creation failed System.ApplicationException: Unable to find entry for Portal Site in sites hosted by database at Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.Admin.c.f() Pls. Help

From: Yousef on 13 Sep 2005 07:23 Yes, this is what I am doing, see below my steps: On the test server I install SQL server and SPS 1 I install SPS from scratch with SP1 and hotfix for both SPS and WSS. So now I have the same version on the production server and the test server. 2- Restore the _Site, _SERV, _PROF databases to test server 3- On SPS Central Admins I configure the server topology component assignments to use the test machine. 4- On Specify Configuration Database settings I select create configuration database and Specify custom name. 5- On create a portal site Restore a portal then select the test server name and type all the databases names.
