From: goldfish4breakfast on 2 Mar 2010 09:47 I backed up my Outlook files and want to bring them back into Outlook. I attempted to import them from the backup location only to be informed that I don't have permission to do this. The whole point of backing them up was to restore them after a recent upgrade of my OS. Can anyone advise me how this can be done. I need to access the emails and contacts.

A backup is not considered a viable backup until a test restore is performed. What happens when you ask Outlook to open the file with File -> Open -> Outlook Data File? You may want to work with a local computer expert to ensure that your Outlook data is restored properly. -- Leonid S. From: goldfish4breakfast on 4 Mar 2010 04:06 Hi Leonid Thanks for entering the debate about restoring my files. Fortunately Robert's advice (See thread) has worked. I transferred the backup file to My Docs and it opened like a dream. Thank you for your interest and response to my problems. Good luck, Sean Smith "Leonid S. If you are not able to access PST file or the permission is forbidden then I guess it is something related to the registry file corruption or setting which is being altered. This type of issue is very common when registry gets damaged due to viruses or execution of any arbitrary code. This problem can be resolved either by repairing the registry and restoring the corrupted and damaged files of it or by taking the backup of PST file and storing it in a safe and healthy location. To backup the PST file efficiently you can use 'PST Backup' (http://www.pstbackup.com) software for fast and accurate backup. All the best! -- nancy86 http://forums.slipstick.com
