From: Bobbi on 27 May 2010 11:38 Occasionally there's an event which causes my desktop icons to be rearranged and resized, such as plugging in a monitor with differnt characteristics. Is there a way to save the icon layout, size and other characteristics so that it can be easily restored when the original monitor is attached, rather than manually dragging each one back? -Bobbi
From: Gord Dibben on 27 May 2010 11:52 There are many free utilities that will do this. I use IconRestore. http://download.cnet.com/Icon-Restore/3000-2072_4-10163499.html After installing, right-click on any folder on the desktop to save and restore desktop arrangement. From: Bobbi on 28 May 2010 12:46 Hi, Gord- I haven't tried Icon Restore yet, but I saw a warning that it cannot be uninstalled in the usual way via the Windows uninstaller. There's a link to an uninstall program: http://users.rcn.com/taylotr/icon_restore.html (But the reviews were terrific and nearly unanimous!) I have renamed a few icons so that arrange-by-name will put birds of a feather together.
